Teahouse Barista


As a Teahouse Barista, you will work closely with the Front of House team and Restaurant Bar Team to provide efficiencies and the highest levels of customer service, demonstrating exceptional knowledge of the menu/s, being a responsible Barista for assisting with the running of the bar area, and executing the drinks service to a standard that exceeds customer expectations.


Customer Service

  • Have a full and comprehensive knowledge of the drinks menus to expertly advise customers and working colleagues.
  • Set up, restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies ready for service.
  • Prepare all drinks orders tea / coffee & alcoholic, nonalcoholic,
  • Serve drinks in a timely way in line with agreed service standards.
  • Handle multiple orders effectively.
  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience.
  • Work closely with the FOH staff to ensure that drinks & dining details are handled correctly.
  • Ensure all feedback from customers is passed on to management to enable the team to continually strive to provide the best possible customer service.
  • Identify opportunities for improving customer service, evolving drinks lists and maximising sales revenue.
  • Assist FOH with Teahouse service, leading by example, providing an amazing experience for our customers that is unrivalled by our competitors.

Operations

  • Ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the Teahouse by following cleaning routines and through ongoing diligence during the shift.
  • Ensure bar is set up and ready for service, following appropriate checklists
  • Keep your workstation sufficiently stocked and organised throughout the day with all items needed for service.
  • Keep the Teahouse/workstation clean and tidy at all times. It is particularly important that the Teahouse and all equipment are left clean at the end of each shift.
  • Assist/manage the daily and monthly stock control, ensuring all relevant inventories are kept up to date.
  • Ensure all wastage is recorded correctly.
  • Ensure adequate level of crockery are maintained for drinks service.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Participate in all beverage training opportunities (wine, coffee, tea) and share knowledge and learning with FOH team.
  • To be responsible for the delivery of quality drinks
  • To carry out supervision, planning, training, coaching and developing of the bar team to meet the needs of the guest, the business and the company.
  • Assist in the training and coaching of the floor team, especially in relation to drinks training at shift briefings.
  • To promote best practice within the bar & constantly look to improve processes & procedures, mentoring those within the team who need extra support.
  • To develop strong team relations by encouraging open communication between all members of the Teahouse team both front and back of house.
  • To ensure that bar team understands the correct preparation, presentation & service of drinks.
  • To attend, communicate effectively at & contribute to shift briefings every day.

Process & Policy

  • Ensuring the aesthetic standards of the bar are maintained.
  • To ensure that the bar is clean using effective cleaning rotas and keeping records, following relevant checklists.
  • To clean and maintain all bar equipment to maximise efficiency & prolong life and to minimise maintenance costs.
  • To lead the drinks information and menu descriptions keeping them up to date.
  • To order and accept all deliveries to Petersham Nurseries standards and to ensure that all stock meets both company and legal standards.
  • To regularly review stock levels and identify variances, implementing positive actions to address discrepancies.
  • To take an active role in accurate record keeping, security and safe storage of all deliveries
  • To operate and have a thorough understanding of all statutory requirements under Environmental Health regulations such as Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, General Health & Safety, COSHH and HACCP

  • Work as part of a team by sharing duties and demonstrating flexibility about hours and days of work.
  • Maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new members of staff and assisting in their training when required.

  • Bring a positive attitude to teamwork, contributing to the smooth running of the Teahouse and interacting productively with other departments.

  • Flexible working includes regular weekend, bank holiday and occasional evening
