We have received funding to run a project that builds digital capability within residential social care homes across Doncaster.

As part of our response to the pandemic in Doncaster the NHS delivered iPads to all care homes in Doncaster to enable safe communications between our services and provide the capability (internet connectivity, and integrated cameras) to attend virtual meetings via MS Teams.

Care home staff and residents will be included as key stakeholders for priority digital programmes being delivered in Doncaster over the next 12 months.

We are passionate about engaging care home staff in IT developments and ensure that staff are fully conversant and trained to enable and promote their digital journey and want to ensure we provide dedicated support.

We are looking for someone to work with a newly appointed project manager to identify, develop and work with Digital Champions based within our care homes, and assist them to co-design and develop digital activity to embed within their own organisation.

Your role is to encourage the use of digital technology as a tool within the care home setting to improve access to health services and support improved health and wellbeing through greater community engagement in digital solutions.

You will act as a digital ambassador when working with care home staff and residents, maintaining the highest levels of customer service and empathy at all times. A key aspect of this role will be to gain an understanding of what is important to the community and translate this to effective working relationships between the statutory and community partners in Doncaster.

This role is initially being funded for (1 year).

This role will be based in the community. You will be provided with equipment to support agile and mobile working.

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be an agile worker and travel is expected across Doncaster. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Project Manager with planning of priority digital activity for care homes

Supporting the implementation of NHSMail in all care homes in Doncaster providing a dedicated resource to offer care homes the support they need to get NHSMail established and utilised as an everyday communication tool.

Helping to build the Increased confidence in digital solutions in the care home setting
-
Supporting the roll out and utilisation of shared record in care homes to improve information sharing between health and care services and our care homes

Using informal networks, local connections and knowledge to reach people (target audiences), in residential care homes, workplaces, communities, neighbourhoods and local social hubs

Having motivational and strengths-based conversations to encourage engagement with digital solutions

Support and facilitate activities which help to address digital exclusion

Linking with existing community groups and organisations who are already embedded in the heart of the communities, leaving a legacy through them

Increasing capability, opportunity and motivation, to self-motivate to increase community participation

Championing digital solutions as a way of reaching people who are isolated and disconnected from their community

Helping others to access support

To contribute to the development of innovative, creative solutions to engagement

Support the work of mapping the informal and formal networks that exist in Doncaster which would benefit from greater digital inclusion (such as friend's groups, faith groups, sports clubs, community, or tenants' associations)

Work with community facilitators, find out who is instrumental in bringing people together within the community

Support the development of the engagement of a wider range of partners within the area to provide a more cohesive and efficient approach to service delivery

Gain an understanding of local community needs and expectations

Research and draft report of what assets and resources are already available within Doncaster, identify gaps, and recommend possible solutions.

Use technology to drive engagement with the community forward, integrating mobile and social media platforms to increase interaction and participation

Support continual service improvement activities ensuring they are developed and implemented
