The Purpose of the Role:


Working within the Strategic Platform Modernisation ("SPM") project as the 1st line of defence, this role will oversee financial assurance in relation to the rollout of New Branch IT ("NBIT").

The purpose is to ensure that financial processes and controls are designed and operating effectively pre and post go-live of NBIT and that financial transactions and financial reporting are accurate and complete.

The scope may extend beyond direct central finance processes to capture wider finance impacting areas such as branch reconciliation, supply chain and commercial finance.

In addition the role will look to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and Risk Reduction in the BAU central finance processes as a result of the Branch Technology replacement.


The breadth and responsibilities of the role are significant and will involve reporting directly into the Group Financial Controller and Director of NBIT, with regular communication to the CFO and Finance Lead Team also.


Principal Accountabilities:

Produce high quality, timely and accurate reporting on financial assurance activities and any findings for key stakeholders.


Keep Finance Leadership Team informed of the key finance impacting decision being made in the programme and work with programme and FLT to overcome any challenges.

Provide appropriate challenge to decisions being made in the programme that impact finance processes and controls.

Provide clear documentation of the approach taken to financial assurance, risks identified and how the risks have been addressed.

Identify the finance related process that are changing as a result of front-end system change.


Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Fully qualified accountant with Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB) recognised qualification (e.g., ACA/ACCA), or equivalent

Experience of working in transformation / change programmes previously

Experience of testing financial controls and performing financial assurance activities (e.g., external audit or internal audit experience).

Good understanding of finance systems (particularly SAP).

Strong Excel skills - SUMIFs, Pivots, Lookups, etc.

Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.

Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to effectively summarise and interpret data.

Questioning and challenging approach, 'Can Do' attitude & ability to adapt to changing business priorities.
