We're really pleased to have opened our
Aurora Summerfields School in
Wilmslow in April 2023
with a proposed capacity of 50 students.
This is a brand new independent specialist school for young people aged 5 to 19, who face difficulties as a result of complex communication needs typically associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Welfare and Pastoral Lead at Summerfields School.
- rewarding social development
- Updating Student Support Plans to support anxiety management and avoid key sensory triggers.
- Safeguarding the welfare and personal development of the young people.
- Supporting young people to address key issues which impact on school attendance, engagement and outcomes across all key stages.
Key Duties:
- To support pupil safeguarding across the school by actioning safeguarding concerns, escalating where required.
- To develop knowledge of key supportive services across the Local Authorities that pupil come from.
- Maintain an overview of incidents across the site and work with staff to be solution focused.
- Monitor and report on attendance and punctuality across the site and actions taken to improve this.
- Ensure where attendance is poor wellbeing checks occur.
- Support in the delivery of the Social Skills curriculum by delivering, developing or managing groups of programmes e.g. Mindworks, Yoga, Feel Good Friday that support pupil wellbeing and reduce anxiety.
- Devising and support rewards, wellbeing and consequences as required to improve self esteem.
- Work with the clinical/ SENCo team to plan specific support and wellbeing interventions to key groups identified as needing help.
- To support and manage all transitions into and out of the school to ensure pupils are able to manage their anxiety and wellbeing, and that outside organisations are fully informed of support and wellbeing needs (SSP).
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience of managing others.
- High standard of education in English and Maths.
- Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation and experience in a safeguarding role.
- Knowledge of and understanding of behaviour management reporting systems.
- Understanding of Legislation regarding Physical Interventions.
- Timely, accurate and effective reporting skills.
- Competency in navigating electronic systems.
- Ability to build strong positive relationships with staff and students.
- Ability to enthuse and motivate pupils and staff
- Efficient and well organised
- Flexible and approachable
- Ability to deal sensitively with people/parents/carers
- Full driving licence
- Kind, open and caring
