We're recruiting for a Claims and Finance Support Manager to join a friendly, supportive, team in a successful growing business, based in Hatfield.


You will work closely with the Senior Management Team to provide regular finance reports to enable accurate management of diverse publicly funded programmes, as well as evidence to support the timely submission of contract claims and audits.

You will providesupport to the development and management of associated budgets and forecasts across the department's contracts for both external and internal use.

Key Responsibilities:


Claims management

  • Take overall responsibility for the claims systems for contracts, including reviewing and improving the current processes
  • Collate, submit and monitor contract claims, liaising with the provider contract managers to address enquiries in a timely manner to ensure prompt payment
  • Working with the directors and contract managers, advise on the allocation of salaries to ensure claims are maximised
  • Manage time sheet process of employees not funded from single contracts
  • Collate audit evidence in support of claims, including producing allocation journals to provide systembased back up for claims
  • Submit claims in line with the set deadlines, either manually or via eportals such as Eclaims, as required

Finance related support

  • Embed continuous improvement principles, working with the finance team to implement suggestions and changes to enhance the quality and efficiency of finance related processes and reporting
  • Liaise with the finance team to ensure correct cost allocation against budget codes, and to set up new projects on the finance system
  • Notify People Team of cost allocations for new starters and any changes required to cost allocations of existing employees
  • Support contract management teams with the production of budgets and forecasts
  • Produce reports to enable contracts managers to operate their budgets/contracts
  • Collate finance information for inclusion in the reports to funders
  • Working with the finance team, coordinate the production of Business Performance Review (BPR) documents including performance information monthly management accounts financial data
  • Support procurement and accounts payable/receivable processes, raising purchase orders and sales invoices as required
  • Submit finance related returns as required by the Office of National Statistics (ONS)
  • Review biweekly expense report to ensure correct coding and reimbursement in line with the Business Expenses policy, highlighting any noncompliant or exceptional expense items, for submission to the Finance & Compliance Director for sign off

What the employer is looking for:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in business management, or a related field
  • Holding or working towards an accountancy qualification recognised in the UK (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or Chartered Institute of PublicFinance (CIPFA)) will be an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of project financial management including budgets and forecasting
  • Experience of interpreting and presenting data in the form of reports and briefing papers for internal and external customers
  • Experience of project working, ideally in a similar role
  • Experience of working across a number of projects responding to multiple demands at a time
