Material Planner - Falkirk
This role reports into the Material Manager

Materials Planner


Location:
Site based in Falkirk

Competitive salary + a half day on a Friday

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Materials Planner to join the team.

In your new role, to ensure all materials / parts for each vehicle are ordered and supplied on time using MRP.

About your new role:


  • Place Purchase Orders for all parts for each vehicle or contract based upon area of responsibility and suppliers lead time
  • Plan, prioritise and control supplier deliveries to meet production requirements
  • Issue supplier schedules on a weekly basis to key suppliers
  • Operate long lead and commodity processes as appropriate
  • Build good working relationships with your suppliers
  • Work with Purchasing to develop the Supply Chain
  • Liaise with other Depts as necessary
  • Attend Daily Shortage Meetings
  • Prioritise & expedite urgent parts as necessary
  • Report and escalate critical issues to line manager
  • Provide holiday cover for other team members across all products
  • Any other duties as required
  • This is of course a nonexhaustive list and you could be asked to support with a number of related initiatives, not least deputising for the Materials Manager as required.

Requirements:


  • To be successful, you will have previous Materials expediting experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • It is essential that you have a good telephone manner with strong communication and interpersonal skills, taking a handson approach to all areas of accountability.
  • You will be selfmotivated, with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and reprioritise in line with changing business needs.
  • To succeed you will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of seniority, internally and externally
  • You won't be afraid to challenge the status quo, constantly striving to improve the way we do things
  • Things can be hectic here. You will remain calm under pressure, be able to multitask and deliver projects on time
  • Generally, someone who is approachable, with a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed
  • Highly IT literate, being a competent user of Microsoft Office, and MRP systems.
  • Finally, you should be comfortable and enjoy doing all of this in a deadline driven, pressurised environment and willing and able to work outside of core hours as necessary to achieve results.
