Description

The ward support will work as part of the Esther white team, under the direction and guidance of the Matron, Ward sister and Senior Nurses in the department.


The focus of the role is to support the nursing and operational team with non-clinical tasks, by co-ordinating department checks, stock level maintenance, while helping to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients.

The main duties, roles and responsibilities of the post are given:
Maintain a tidy and orderly storeroom
Ensure that all patient areas are appropriately stocked with basic supplies
Maintain high standards of cleanliness in relation to patient trolley areas in accordance with Trust infection control policy

Take responsibility for reporting and actioning any deficiency in supplies
Liaise with designated senior nurse with reference to special orders and requisitions.

Supporting Clinical and Patient Excellence:

Help maintain medical equipment including reporting faulty equipment

Promote patient privacy and dignity at all times


Professional Responsibilities:

Demonstrate effective communication skills in the assisting of patients/relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team with information regarding the department

Ensure patient confidentiality in handling patient notes, telephone enquiries and communication processes

Maintaining staff information boards

Participate in department equipment audits

Work along side the clinical domestic


Quality Assurance and Monitoring:

Stock takes bi-annually of general stock with stores team

Stock up areas on a daily basis

Daily area checks

Ordering stock for the department when needed


General Responsibilities:

Handle incoming telephone calls in a professional manner, directing callers to the appropriate source of information

Handle patient notes in accordance with trust policy

Contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment at all times.
