Export Controller
Responsible for arranging the imports to, and exports of technical goods and systems globally while ensuring compliance with Export Controls and Customs regimes for efficient on-time deliveries and re-importations where required.
To ensure all relevant documentation is generated and completed in accordance with company, customer and legislative requirements and all imported goods are classified accurately utilising the appropriate Customs Regimes such as IPR, OPR, PCC etc.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Effective use of the company ERP system to process shipments notified for despatch to ensure customer orders are delivered on time.
To produce and issue all relevant shipping documentation (including freight forwarder/shipper Cargo Shipping Instructions) and ensure all check procedures are completed prior to release.
To liaise with the relevant freight forwarder/shipper, to ensure that the Cargo Shipping Instructions are strictly adhered to; that customs entries, raised on our behalf, are correct and checked before shipment; ensuring that copy entries, together with relevant departure messages are received and checked, prior to filing.
Obtaining Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, Certificates of Shipment and Proofs of Delivery from the from the freightforwarder, enabling zero-rating of goods for HMRC VAT compliance.
To participate in regular Export compliance audits.
Clear imports of purchased parts in a timely manner and other items in accordance with Customs relief procedures
Liaise with sales, finance and compliance manager to ensure that all documentation requirements are correct and are up to date
Interface with Couriers, Freight Forwarders, BIS, HMRC
Provide shipping quotes to internal staff
- Failure to comply with this duty may result in the Company invoking the disciplinary procedure.
RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
NVQ/Certificate or Professional Training in Import/Export or Customs Procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
To work well within a team and have the ability to work autonomously
Use of ERP systems
Use of Import/Export software or Customs Reporting system
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:
Previous shipping and/or freight forwarding experience to enable the identification of suitable routings for goods
Working knowledge of the documentation requirements associated with the shipping of goods including Export controls (Incoterms, ITAR and EAR)
Working knowledge of the documentation requirements associated with the compliance to letters of credit
Working knowledge of import management and associated duty regimes
Knowledge of packing standards relevant to goods to be dispatched and method of transport and INCOTERMS
Knowledge of Packing, Handling and Despatch of Dangerous Goods
Knowledge of Aviation Security Awareness
