Children North East exists because growing up can be hard.We work with babies, children and young people through the rollercoaster of growing up in their families, schools and communities.
We are looking for a Counselling clinical coordinator who is experienced in working with children and young people to enhance our current counselling offer.
You will provide day to day counselling support to the youth counselling team, which ensures that the health and wellbeing of young people aged between years in the North East is provided to the highest standards.
This role will work closely with the Youth Counselling Team Manager to ensure that referrals are distributed across the team, fairly and ethically.
This post will hold a counselling caseload (as determined and agreed by the Youth Counselling Team Manager), to ensure efficacy within the team.
Main ResponsibilitiesTo work within the policies, guidelines, procedures and code of conduct of Children North East.
To develop and maintain appropriate working relationships adhering to Children North East's values and behaviours.
To support the Youth Counselling Team Manager and Clinical Coordinator with service development.
To contribute to the coordination, delivery and day to day support of the counselling service, monitoring and evaluating service delivery in line with agreed outputs and outcomes.
To work within the Young People's Service and with external partners to meet the needs of children and young people experiencing emotional wellbeing and/or mental health issues.
Improve outcomes for children and young people between the ages of living in the North East, working in a variety of settings both at our project and in an outreach setting.
To provide one to one counselling support and promote a safe and young people friendly environment to establish a relationship of trust.
To advocate on behalf of children and young people on issues that are important to them.
To champion the requirements of the BACP/UKCP code of ethics across the Youth Counselling team.
Support the counselling team, coordinating peer to peer reflective practice groups and facilitate relevant training CPD opportunities for the counselling team.
Coordinate and manage recruitment, selection and provide peer supervision to students on placement who are providing counselling to young people.
To assist in the recruitment of newly qualified counsellors to provide sufficient hours of counselling in a volunteering capacity for the Youth Counselling service.
Follow Children North East's Safeguarding policy and procedures so as to ensure children and young people's wellbeing and safety, ensuring the quality of provision to clients and the care of counsellors.
To maintain accurate and confidential records in respect of young people involved in the counselling process and to work with the Youth Counselling Team Manager to produce appropriate project reports, monitoring and evaluation information directly related to identified targets.
To ensure children and young people's rights are valued and respected, making sure service users inform and influence decision making that brings about change.
To link directly other statutory and voluntary organisations in order to contribute to the common ambition to improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people.
Work with the Youth Counselling Team Manager and Clinical Coordinator to lead in revising, updating, and writing of new clinical policies and codes of practice to ensure all team members are working to necessary ethical and legal standards.
Work alongside the Youth Counselling Team Manager, monitoring the balance between counsellor capacity and client demand and keep client waiting times to the acceptable levels, which may be changed from time to time.
Work with the Counselling team manager to deal with any complaints about clinical services.
