Faith in Environment ProjectEnvironmental Sustainability is important for the ELMT.
This unique and innovative initiative aims to bolster the efforts of the council's recycling team while also fostering community awareness about climate change and environmental stewardship through a lens of faith.
It will deliver targeted educational programs and other initiatives to engage, educate and empower the community on these crucial matters.
-The Project Officer will:_
- Project Coordination_:
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and deliverables in alignment with the project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate project activities, including workshops, seminars, community events, and educational campaigns related to environmental conservation and sustainability.
- Plan and assist in an annual conference on Faith and Environment working with key stakeholders including Tower Hamlets council.
- Community Engagement:_
- Cultivate relationships with community members, Mosques and religious leaders/Imams, and local organisations to foster collaboration and support for environmental initiatives.
- Organise outreach efforts to engage diverse segments of the Muslim community and raise awareness about environmental issues and solutions.
- Education and Training_:
- Design and deliver educational materials, presentations, and training sessions on environmental topics, tailored to the cultural and religious context of the Muslim community.
- Deliver workshops for children and to parents on recycling and their responsibility.
- Provide advice and information and use Council's education material for Roadshows and workshops to mosques and schools.
- Assist in supporting Imams with key messaging for sermons/lectures.
- Collaborate with external experts (primarily from LBTH) and organisations to provide specialised training on topics such as ecofriendly practices, waste reduction, energy conservation, and green technologies.
- Arrange Podcasts interviews on the Project and support guest speaker.
Partnerships:
- Establish and maintain partnerships with LBTH, Mosques, Schools and other stakeholders to leverage resources and support for environmental initiatives.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:_
- Develop mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the impact of project activities, including collecting feedback, conducting surveys, and analysing data to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports documenting project progress, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay:
£26,662.00-£28,723.00 per year
