An engineering contractor who specialises in the design, install, operation and maintenance of High and Low Voltage Distribution Networks to end users and duty holders throughout London and the South, are expanding their team and seeking a HV Fitter to support them in their increase in pipeline of work.

Job description for the HV Fitter:

  • Connect wires to circuit-breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices and power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters and test lamps
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand tools and power tools

Required experience for the HV Fitter:

  • Minimum level 3 qualification
  • or equivalent
  • in Electrical Engineering
  • Able to demonstrate electrical plant knowledge eg Power System Operation Transformers, Switchgear, HV/LV cables, EPO buttons and generators
  • Good knowledge of Electricity At Work Reg. High Voltage distribution safety rules, CDM regs and general health and safety legislation
  • Full clean driving licence
