Summary of Position


To drive through Health & Safety initiatives to improve operational efficiencies in a safe and healthy environment for our team.

You will work closely with the Management team to develop and manage safety of the site, taking the lead on various projects, reviewing current processes and work towards making it a safer place to work.

You will liaise with all levels in the business and present in a concise way to the senior leadership team.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify hazards, performing risk assessments and implementing control measures to ensure the risk of injury is reduced or eliminated
  • Complete departmental induction and orientation of new employees by providing information on hazards and risks in the workplace, job instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure safe work for employees
  • Proactively prepare health, safety and environment interventions and develop internal policy
  • Provide personal protective equipment, instruction in its correct use, maintenance and limitations. Ensuring a register of deployed equipment is continuously maintained and reviewed
  • Ensure full and accurate health and safety training records are maintained
  • Oversee equipment installation to ensure safe procedures are followed
  • Organise and review regular chemical monitoring ensuring that any operator/personnel exposure to selected materials are within the give HSE guidelines.
  • Advise the business on a range of specialist topics, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery etc
  • Produce newsletters and bulletins to all staff.
  • Undertake continual professional development activities including attending seminars and reading professional journals.

Qualifications & Training

  • IOSH/NEBOSH or working towards
  • Experience SME manufacturing background


  • Experience of ISO900

  • Awareness of 14001/4500
  • Familiar with primary UK workplace legislation

Salary:
£40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
