Job purpose:


To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.


About the employer:


Our client is an 8-year-old girl who lives with her family in the WR2 area of Worcester and is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support with all aspects of daily living.


Our client is a walking frame user and has complex needs including a variable significant visual impairment, low muscle tone, global development delay, non-verbal, epilepsy.

Some challenging behaviour including self-harm, destructive tendencies and difficulties with transitions and some demand avoidance which will require patient management.


Main duties:


Social duties:

- keep in touch and socialise with family and friends.
- access the local community.

  • You will be required to support and motivate out client to thrive socially, emotionally, to successfully engage in play.

Personal care:
Full personal care including assistance with feeding, toileting, and bathing.

These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Specific requirements: The successful applicant will have 2 years or more experience working with profound and complex needs.

You will be motivated to support the client to thrive socially, emotionally, to successfully engage in play time and pay close attention to non-verbal cues in order to meet needs for personal wishes such as which activity she would like to complete, continence needs, feeding and drinking.

You will need to have a reasonable amount of energy to walk/run in front of our client while she is in her running frame to encourage her to travel in her lane.

Full driving licence required, driving to include some motorway driving.

Other: due to the nature of this role including personal care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.

Hours of work
:16 hours per week term time (this will be 1hour mornings, over 5 days (7-8am), 1hour each evening 6 days/week, 3hours on Saturday mornings and 2 hours on Sunday mornings)


31 hours per week during school holidays (this will be 1hour mornings, over 5 days (7-8am), 1hour each evening 6 days week, 3hours/day Monday

  • Saturday mornings and 2 hours on Sunday mornings)

Rate of pay:
£20.00 per hour.


Skills, qualifications, and experience

Essential:

- driving licence.
- car and appropriate insurance.

  • 2 years or more experience working with profound and complex needs.
  • Confidentiality.
- good at building relationships.


Preferred:

- computer literate.
- good communicator.
- a good listener.
- ability to support people with behaviours which challenge.


Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
