We are newly recruiting for an Associate to join our Employment team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a Chambers UK and Legal 500 ranked team, and work with "Leading Individuals", as named in the Legal 500.

Our Employment team enjoys an excellent reputation in the market and is ranked as a National Leader. We are growing quickly and offer resident employment expertise in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Many of our clients are well known names in the retail, public, and financial services sectors and we provide a full range of employment support, including in defending Employment Tribunal claims.


Your Role:

As a key addition to our existing team, day to day, you can expect to be involved with:

  • Employment tribunal claims (almost exclusively acting for Respondents)
  • Helping employers manage issues in the workplace such as disciplinaries, grievances, restructuring and redundancies
  • Providing employment law support in corporate deals and outsourcing contracts, contract drafting and client training
  • Enforcement of post termination restrictive covenants
  • Drafting of contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, staff handbooks, settlement agreements and other employment related documentation

Your Skills & Experience:


We are looking for:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered), with at least 1 year PQE within an employer focused employment law team
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be selfmotivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping uptodate with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus
  • The ability to understand your client's business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture.
