One Good Thing (O.G.T) is a new subscription focused hypergrowth direct to consumer food and drink brand, which is home to the world's first edible coated snack and protein bar.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Head of NPD who wants to help spread our passion for healthy sustainable food and drink.

Product development is key to our business strategy, driving quality, innovation, and newness for O.G.T customers to enjoy.

Office-based: Monday to Friday (5 days per week) As a start-up, we are strong believers in collaboration so we're currently five days a week within the office.


Salary:
up to £65,000 dependent on experience.


Working hours: 9.00am - 5.30pm with half an hour lunch.


Contract:
Full-time, permanent.


Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • The Head of NPD will be responsible for leading and expanding the product development function in addition to managing current product and future product portfolios.
  • As Head of NPD, you will lead OGTs product development cycle, from initial recipe development through to factory trials, calculating nutritional information, product costings, writing label/pack copy and ingredient descriptions in line with regulation.
  • You will ensure that NPI and EPI deliver against their quality benchmark; that innovation and novelty are delivered across our product portfolio and that quality and taste are at the forefront of development from the initial product concept right through the entire product life cycle to launch.
  • You will work with our partnering environmental food rating agency to develop high quality, great tasting products using sustainably sourced ingredients and low carbon manufacturing to guarantee low CO2 impact scores across all SKUs.
  • You will conduct preliminary tastetesting trials and ongoing shelflife tests to ensure that our products deliver both on taste and longevity.
  • You will be passionate about driving quality and continuous improvement and will ensure our products are both great quality and great value for our customers. In line with our O.G.T brand benchmarking strategy you will be accountable for managing ongoing improvements of our products to meet customer needs.
  • Making sure that your suppliers comply with OGTs policies throughout the product development process.
  • You will partner with stakeholders across the business and will be accountable for contributing to the range and product strategy based on customer needs and ensuring both existing and future products are commercially viable and in line with our continuous improvement programme.
  • You'll be responsible for developing new, profitable, and deliverable concepts, by supporting endtoend product development management of new and existing product ranges including working with raw materials, ingredients, packaging, designing new recipes, ideas generation and presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • You'll be a champion of the development process, driving momentum to ensure successful project delivery.
  • You'll ensure the viability of new raw ingredients from an operational, technical and product development perspective.
  • You'll ensure that all products are developed and manufactured in compliance with relevant food safety regulations and standards.

The Head of NPDmust have**:


  • Bachelor's degree in food science or nutrition.
  • Significant experience in advancing product development experience in the food industry required
  • Exceptional team leadership and strategic planning capabilities required.
  • Defined commercial and creative acumen required.
  • A passion for quality and consistence and all things food related that will place you on the path to success.
  • You will have gained experience within a food manufacturing, food retailing or food technology environment and been instrumental in delivering innovative food products which exceed quality standards.
  • You will demonstrate strong food product development/technical skills combined with a commercial understanding and drive to produce highquality products that you are proud of.
  • You will be a proactive team member with strong interpersonal, organisational and management skills and will be able to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver to deadlines within specific timescales.
