We are looking for a Mechanical Estates Manager to join our King's Mill & Newark Hospital team in Mansfield.


You'll:


  • To support the management team in the provision of maintenance services within the Sherwood Forest Hospitals PFI.
  • Undertake Authorised Person Duties on systems as agreed with the Senior Estates Officer.
  • Participate in an "On Call Rota" to ensure engineering cover is provided to Sherwood Forest Hospitals 24/7, 365 days/year.
  • Responsible for delivery of Statutory, Mandatory and contractually compliant systems, ensuring adherence with Legislation and contractual obligations at all times

Including:

  • Ensuring that all Statutory/Mandatory and contractual records are kept uptodate at all times.
  • Produce reports appertaining to operational/compliance.
  • Highlight departures to legislation and identify control measures and to managing statutory compliance deferment process.
  • Provide professional advice in respect of meeting compliance to Statutory and Mandatory Legislation to limit Skanska Facilities Services Exposure/Risk.
  • Complete all Statutory/Mandatory and Contractual information databases as required to meet Skanska Facilities Services Quality systems and contractual obligations, i.e. ERIC's, Energy Reports, Contractual periodic Audits and other NHS Returns.
  • To assist with the production of engineering reports, defect reports appertaining to the Sherwood Forest Hospitals project.
  • To undertake audits to ensure full compliance, these will include:
  • Undertake Site specific Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Audits
  • Undertake Site specific Statutory Compliance Audits.
  • Develop, Implement and carry out effective maintenance audits periodically
  • Undertake Health & Safety Audits, Risk Assessments, toolbox talks and Contractor Induction.
  • Training as and when required.
  • Responsible for management of all engineering records including,
  • O+M manuals.
- "As fitted" drawings.

  • Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Emergency Operating Procedures.
  • All "other" engineering documentation.
  • Ensure that appropriate Site Specific PPM maintenance strategies are developed and implemented.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of engineering standards across the estate. Liaise with the Skanska project team to agree installation standards on capital projects, life cycle and small/minor new works.
  • Ensure conditions surveys undertaken which will the development of life cycle plans to prevent exposure and risk of failure to Skanska.
  • Take on agreed crosssite estates services and to undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post and grade as may be determined by the Senior estates officer.

We're looking for:


  • Recognised C & G or BTec in Mechanical Engineering
  • The post holder will have a wide experience and knowledge of the estate's functions within a hospital environment.
  • The post holder will have an ability to communicate, cooperate and motive staff and colleagues at all levels and in all disciplines.
  • It is implicit within all Estates staff job descriptions that a high level of flexibility and cooperation must be given in order to provide the quality of service standards required.
  • This is a key frontline post, the post holder represents the Department directly to the Client group. Therefore the post holder must have a high standard of customer care skills, have a pleasant manner, good communication skills, numerate and have keyboard skills.
  • Good healthcare knowledge.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle for business use.
  • Understanding of the Health and Safety of Work Act 197
  • Evidence of forming and maintaining good stakeholder relationships
