The Role:

  • This is an exciting opportunity for 2023 graduates to develop their interest and knowledge in planning and urban design by working on a range of development projects within the

Land and Assets team at Hampshire County Council. You will also complete a funded Masters degree in
-
Spatial Planning to gain professional membership to the
-
RTPI.
  • Hampshire County Council has delivered a range of awardwinning building, landscape, and development projects, and has a £3 billion property portfolio that includes a longterm strategic land programme of housing sites.
  • Acting on behalf of the County Council as a landowner, you will assist a development team of town planners, urban designers and development surveyors with feasibility studies, policy reviews, site layouts, reports and plans to unlock the potential of surplus County Council land and buildings for development and supporting uses.
You will assist the County Council and other public sector partners to deliver significant capital programmes, and work with a relentless focus on our commitment to meet zero carbon targets by 2050:
Climate change strategy and action plan.


What we can offer you:


  • The Level 7 Chartered Town Planner Apprenticeship will lead to obtaining an RTPI accredited Masters degree and RTPI Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) which leads to Chartered status. On successful completion of the Masters degree the role also includes the potential for career progression.
  • Typically, you will work five days per week, with one day per week at university during term time. Our people typically work one to two days per week in the office and the remainder at home or other settings. As an apprentice, you will be supported to develop your confidence and experience working alongside others, ensuring the most effective balance of inperson and online contact. You will have a line manager and a dedicated mentor for the APC. You will also have access to a wider network of professional and generalist graduates from across the extended organisation.
