Job description

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 12 Months

An exciting new role has become available within the Partnership and Community Safety Service.

Why not join our elite team dedicated to safeguarding communities and combating terrorism. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill the role of a Prevent Support Officer.


You'll be pivotal in supporting the Prevent agenda to ensure that we provide a safe city for people to live work and visit.

Join us, to play a key role in preventing people from becoming radicalised.

You'll have the opportunity to not only use your expertise to make a difference but also develop and stretch your skills further.

This is a full-time, fixed term position working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday (for 12 months). Evening and weekend working may be required due to the nature of the role which includes meetings and events.

You'll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs.


What you'll be doing


In this varied role your day-to-day activities will include, but not be limited to, providing support to the Prevent co-ordinator and strategic leadership as well as, working at an operational level, offering support to the co-ordination and smooth running of the commissioned community sector organisations, and all Prevent related meetings.

You'll oversee the commissioned community sector organisations and provide support to the Prevent agenda across the council.

As well as, working in partnership with colleagues, as well as public, private, and voluntary sector organisations, including the Home Office.

In addition, you'll complete allocated tasks and fulfil activities to meet objectives.


What you'll need


With a sound knowledge of prevent and counter terrorism, you'll be able to support the Prevent Co-ordinator and senior management in this area.

As a quick thinker, you'll have excellent interpersonal skills and be a strong advocate for prevent. Highly motivated, you'll be able to work in a politically sensitive and fast-paced environment to successfully deliver objectives. Whilst also showing passion for making a difference, you'll use your skills to successfully navigate your work.
