Position Overview - Flexible on location within below mentioned Countries
This role is multi-disciplinary and underpins the laboratory support operations.

This role directly and indirectly supports scientists across Bio Products Laboratory Ltd allowing scientists to concentrate on their core role.


Location - WD6 3BX Bio Products Lab, Watford

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Pipette Management

  • To test customer QC & R&D Pipettes in accordance with the corresponding customer SOP.
  • To document the precalibration and postcalibration conditions of the customer Pipettes with an overall assessment of Suitable for use; indicating that the results are within the permitted tolerances/specification limits of the test/adjustment activity/tolerances/specificationlimits of the test/adjustment activity
  • To provide calibration labels for the tested Pipettes as applicable.
  • To perform any required clean, part replacement and/or repair of pipettes on site
  • Arrange for the Pipettes to be sent to manufacturer for any repairs and manage subsequent returns
  • Provide the Certificates of Calibration and/or the service report to the nominated customer contact within 5 working days
  • Maintain a comprehensive calibration and preventative maintenance program for the equipment/instruments.
  • Provide effective status communication to necessary customer personnel
  • Use of specialist Calibration software to record and document Calibration results

General Duties
To support wider Avantor team with service requirements in the event of sickness and holiday coverage where necessary.


This will include the following:

  • Media management & logistics
  • Inventory Management
  • Sample Management & logistics

Health and Safety:


  • To carry out all scientific support activities in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines, GLS & GXP.
  • Adheres to SHE regulations, PPE policies and follows Avantor work instructions.

Experience Required

  • Previous experience of using, maintaining and calibrating Pipettes & Laboratory Balances
  • Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
  • Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
  • Good problemsolving capabilities and confidence to react promptly to deliver the best service possible
  • Proven planning, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Good time management skills, ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills required (including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Proven experience of working in a laboratory environment to
    GMP standards
  • Knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory environment
  • A good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team members
  • To be flexible with working hours when required to deliver the service required to our customers
  • Selfmotivated, energetic, and dependable

  • Primarily located in a scientific laboratory environment, it also involves some office work sitting at a desk.
  • Work assignments are diverse, they can involve working with solvents and chemicals and medical samples. It would be common within this role to handle and come into contact with hazardous materials/goods. Work can require a lot of walking, standing for longperiods, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 20kgs.
