We're passionate about supporting individuals who face complex issues, including substance misuse, mental ill health, and other harmful, addictive and offending behaviour, to improve their lives._

We're currently have an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Worker to join our Dorset substance misuse service with a focus on Health Improvement.

As a Recovery Worker, you'll be responsible for working with and motivating service users to engage in the recovery programmes we offer in Dorset. Our service welcomes people at any stage in their recovery journey, starting with the open end of harm reduction, through to brief interventions, extended interventions and structured treatment, and Recovery Workers offer support throughout.


This fixed term opportunity will focus on Health Improvement, providing support to the Avon & Wiltshire Partnership clinical teams with community alcohol detoxes, including home visits and follow on support.


In addition within this role, you will also:


Day to day duties include:


  • Working autonomously to manage a caseload of our service users, including delivering a range of psychosocial interventions.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to undertake ongoing assessments, risk assessments, and appropriate referrals within the community
  • Facilitating group sessions with a range of individuals of varying backgrounds.,
  • Working in collaboration with the Reach team to identify and engage those deemed at risk of Blood Borne Viruses.
  • Assisting with BBV testing, accurate recording of results, liaising with clients for appropriate treatment.
  • Engaging clients in training and issue of Naloxone.

Who we're looking for:

We're looking for a Recovery Navigator with a real passion for working in a recovery focused environment. You'll hold some transferable skills, ideally from working in a health & social care, clinical or recovery setting.


You'll also have:


  • A knowledge and understanding of substance misuse and recovery
  • Experience of managing, planning, and prioritising your own workload, delivering work of a high standard
  • An understanding of safeguarding
  • An understanding of group working, group dynamics and group facilitation
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to work well in a team environment alongside a range of people and organisations
