Job Description:

We Are St Helens Borough Council.

Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support.

We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.

Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey.

Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.

Making A Difference as A Cleaner in School Traded Services.

We are currently recruiting Cleaners to work in schools across St Helens, to play a vital role in enabling our schools to operate a clean and healthy environment for our children.

The hours of duty could vary between 5 and 20 per week dependent upon the vacancy you will be asked to cover.

Hours are worked flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Your role will be to provide cleaning services to cover for absences and to provide additional capacity in schools on an ad-hoc basis.

Where possible, we will look to allocate you work in schools that are in easy travelling distance to you. We will also aim to provide you with reasonable notice of the days and times of the work available.

However due to the nature of the service requirements, there will be occasions when you will be contacted at short notice.

The working times are likely to be before school opens, during lunch and after school has closed, however there maybe requests from schools for cleaning services throughout the school day.

Your duties will consist of cleaning toilets, classrooms, corridors, and will include dusting, vacuuming, brushing, mopping, buffing, etc. for which induction and training will be given.

This Authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
