Accountable to:
Retail Area Manager


Hours:
Zero Hour contract as and when required but will include weekends and bank holidays


Salary:
£11.00 per hour plus holiday scheme allowance


Overview of Role:


Reporting to the Warehouse Manager you will work as part of professional, highly motivated, and driven Warehouse team, ensuring sustainable stock is sourced and distributed to support our retail outlets and customers.

To support the management of stock control across Mountbatten, sort/allocate suitable product for distribution and assist drivers with customer collections/deliveries as necessary.


Key Tasks
Supporting the day to day running of Mountbatten's Warehouse operations by maintaining high standards of quality control ensuring only good quality merchandise is stocked ready for re-sale at Mountbatten outlets


By ensuring that:

Donations/stock

  • Receive donations from the public, warehouse sales and shops
- this will include the moving and handling of received donations which will include clothing, bric-a-brac and furniture.

  • Sort donations and assess the salability, and determine the best place for resale of these items for example: specific shops/eBay or auction/special event etc.
  • Prepare stock for sale by hanging, tagging, sizing, cleaning, wrapping and packing as required, ensuring all relevant Mountbatten procedures for doing so are adhered to
  • Store items into the relevant storage areas as required, which may include using equipment to work at height, following completion of the relevant safe working practice training
  • Safely disposing of damaged and broken items in accordance with Mountbatten procedures

Recycling

  • Sort items for recycling, ensuring that at all times these are stored and handled safely in accordance with Mountbatten procedures
  • Assist with the collection of recycled items as required including loading têxtile recycling into the relevant collection vehicle as necessary
  • Identify other possible items that could be recycled and advise the Warehouse Manager accordingly

Orders

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager as directed to ensure that orders for Mountbatten's retail outlets are distributed to maximise sales and income generation for Mountbatten
  • Receive and deal with orders from Shop Managers as requested

Warehouse environment

  • At all times maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the warehouse environment, reporting any concerns direct to the Warehouse Manager
  • As required empty bins, flatpack cardboard and bag up full boxes of items such as scarves, bags and shoes in preparation for orders or storage in the correct area as and when required.
  • Ensure that all 'Start and End of Day" tasks are completed including, but not limited to:
Moving cages in and out of the warehouse

Moving boxes of stock and rails of clothes to dispatch or storage areas

Sweeping/hoovering and cleaning of kitchen, toilets and rest areas

Replenish consumables within rest area and at work stations as necessary


Volunteers

  • Supporting the Warehouse Manager in the recruitment, training and effective supervision of volunteers at the Warehouse to promote and reinforce a safe working environment where volunteers can reach their full potential to support Mountbatten
  • Report all concerns in relation to volunteers direct to the Warehouse Manager or Retail Area Manager

Other

  • Where necessary, support the driving team by helping with customer deliveries and collections, ensuring respect of customers property and assets at all times
  • Develop a strong working partnership with colleagues and volunteers across all retail, fundraising, events and marketing areas.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of all Warehouse documentation as required
  • Ensure you operate within the Organisational Policies and Procedures, (including Health & Safety, Manual Handling and HR Policies) and comply with statutory & legal requirements.
  • Undertake other duties as requested by the Warehouse Manager and Retail Area Manager.

General

All Mountbatten employees are:

  • Required to attend mandatory and refresher training annually
  • Required to hold DBS Clearance relevant for the role which must be renewed every 3 years
