Description

The Deputy Head of midwifery for Maternity will be responsible for providing operational management and leadership across Maternity Services in conjunction with the Head of Midwifery and include responsibility and accountability for an allocated cluster area withinthe directorate.

Reporting to the Head of Midwifery, the post holder will be required to directly manage the designated area, ensuring operational safety, efficiency and effectiveness, budgetary control, the maximisation of income and effective clinical governance and risk management.

The post holder will also deputise for the Head of Midwifery in periods of absence.
Represent the Head of Midwifery at meetings internally and externally to the Trust when required/delegated.
Provide leadership support and appropriate challenge to clinical/operations leads in the delivery of projects identified.
The Deputy Head of Midwifery will be easily identifiable, visible and accessible to staff, patients and relatives. They will have excellent leadership skills that motivate, empowerand inspire others to promote an evidence based quality service.

Maintain strong working links with the Black Country LMNS, and other Black Country trusts.
