  • This exciting role within the School of Creative and Digital Industries is for a Lecturer in Games Design to teach on our BSc Games Development and BA 3D Game Art programmes.
We are particularly looking for talented individuals with industry level experience in:


  • Unreal Engine
  • Unity
  • Maya
  • 3ds Max
  • Please note, knowledge of coding and or blueprints would be an advantage.
  • You will be expected to teach at our High Wycombe campus, our teaching base at Pinewood Studios and online.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:
Lecturer in Games Design
School: Creative and Digital Industries

Grade:
AC2
Location: Relevant University campus as advised, with travel to other campuses as required
Responsible to: Deputy Head of School or designee
Job Purpose:

  • Teach and support students by adopting a learner-centred approach, delivering a first-class student experience.
  • Undertake research, professional practice and enterprise activity as outlined within the BNU Academic Framework
  • Be a teamplayer and contribute to the wider work of the School and University
  • Practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:


Education:


  • Undertake associated activities in connection with the courses taught including personal tutoring; student recruitment; assessment, review and evaluation.
  • Achieve student satisfaction demonstrating a commitment to 'customer focus' and contributing to the achievement of strong NSS results.
  • Demonstrate inclusive practice in curriculum design and delivery. Work to eliminate attainment gaps.
  • Contribute to Open Days, school, college and partnership links and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and/or School.
  • Support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and workrelated activities.
  • Deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
  • Plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of Digital technologies.
  • Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
  • Engage in professional development activities (e.g., CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.

Research and Professional Practice:


  • Conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the lecturing role and/or area of professional practice and aligns own research with their teaching and learning
  • Engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • Engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to research, enterprise and/or the relevant profession.
  • Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
  • Contribute to the REF and KEF and to internal and external research and enterprise strategies, as applicable.
