Priory Hospital Enfield is a 53 bed hospital in the Borough of Enfield and is situated with very good transport links.
The site provides services in both a forensic setting (male medium secure & low secure) and acute services (mixed sex).
The hospital can cater for up to 53 patients at one time across four wards.Our Benefits:

We are seeking a Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist who can provide care, assessment and treatment of patients with mental disorders in secure mental health ward in North London.
Responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- The Consultant will deliver direct interventions to inpatients including assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
- The Consultant will supervise the medical team that provides medical care and act as RC for detained inpatients.
- Medical legal role for inpatients. This will include the preparation of MHA Tribunal and other reports and attending MHA Tribunals
- Responsible for the mental health care of all inpatients through daily ward reviews, attending the ward daily themselves Monday to Friday
- The Consultant has a duty to collaborate with key personnel to ensure the smooth transition through any changes in the care pathway
- Opportunity to be involved in clinical audit, patient safety projects and clinical governance standards and monitoring for the delivery of the service
- To participate in 2nd on call rota.
- MRCPsych qualification or equivalent
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Approved under section 12(2) of the MHA 198
- Has Approved Clinician status under the MHA 1983 / is eligible to work as a Responsible Clinician
- Experience of assessing and treating patients in an inpatient setting.
- Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD.
- Evidence of effective multidisciplinary team involvement.
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
- A commitment to patientcentred care and to valuesbased and evidence based practice
- A flexible, positive, teamorientated approach.
