The Head of Technical Services (HTS) is responsible for the provision of technical advice and expertise to it's members where appropriate, development of technical standards and codes of practice in line with company policy.

The HTS is the principal contact for all members and a point of contact for members of the public and regulatory and other bodies regarding technical enquiries for the relevant sectors.

An important role is to continue to raise the profile, integrity and reputation of the company with Government, regulatory bodies and the consumer organisations as being the lead organisation on all technical matters relating to the industry within the UK.

The HTS is also responsible for overseeing the operation and developing an effective strategy to enhance and strengthen of the company's Product Approval Scheme, Training Academy and the Approved Workshop Scheme.

To provide members with a high-quality technical service and represent the company with external bodies and media on all technical issues.

Responsibilities:


Committee Administration:


To provide directorate support for internal committees including but not exclusively, all specialist section committees, strategic panels and technical panels.

The duties include arranging venues, issuing calling notices, agendas and working papers, assisting the respective Chairman to conduct the meeting, giving advice where needed, taking and, subsequently, issuing minutes when required.

Servicing various ad-hoc groups (working groups) as and when required.


Product Approval Scheme:


To oversee the direction and development of the scheme in relation to the relevant product sectors and supporting the field engineers accordingly.

To assist manufacturers in fully understanding the current legislation and standards and transition to revised or new requirements.


Strategic Development:


To constantly evaluate the activities and services of the Technical Services Department to ensure they are in alignment with the operational plan for the business.

To ensure an effective strategy is implemented which firstly aims at raising the profile of the Schemes and secondly which evaluates and addresses the external influences in an effort to secure the future well-being of the schemes.

To assist the scheme managers as and when necessary.


Project Work:

Various technical projects arise from time to time in the industry. Some may be held at the request of a committee or possibly from an external source. The HTS is responsible for ensuring that technical projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification.


Representation Duties:

The HTS proactively represents the company on various external committees.


Technical Advisory Service:

The HTS manages the technical advisory service for the different stakeholders. The HTS is responsible for developing managing the development of technical trade bulletins, technical articles and publications. The HTS advises on all technical matters relating to the aspects of construction, installation of services, servicing, legal requirements.

Most advice relates to health & safety standards which covers the main habitation areas and the legal requirements for the installation of services and the constructional aspects.

The HTS is expected to provide technical advice to:
Various Committees

Regulatory and other bodies

Individual members of the company

Members of the public


Maintaining technical information on website
To provide and co-ordinate technical information, data and/or articles to be communicated to members via the company's website.

To explore on a continual basis, in consultation with the Marketing Director, how best to use the company website for the dissemination of technical information to trade and public.

Salary:
£45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
