Description

This role will include the management of approximately 8 people at any one time, or up to 16 in total, this would be together with another Supervisor who works on the same site.

The Supervisor will, in tandem with another Supervisor in post, look after patientfreeze-cook meals in the kitchen, Bidfood ordering, etc and will supervise staff cleaning/serving food on the wards.

Monday to Friday hours worked from 6am to 8pm (days shifts): £11.50 paye inclusive per hour

Monday to Friday hours worked from 8pm to 6am (Night shifts) / Saturday: £14.95 paye inclusive per hour

Sunday / Bank Holidays:
£18.40 paye inclusive per hour

Working Days and Hours:

5 Shifts to be worked between Monday and Sunday either 10.30am to 6.30pm or 7am to 3pm as agreed with the client


This role will be on a shift pattern with every other weekend worked.

And probably mostly pm on weekdays in that rota as followed
:

Week - Monday - Wednesday / Thursday-Friday OFF / Saturday-Sunday

Week 2- Monday - Friday / Saturday-Sunday OFF

  • There are three wards in this unit, all with 10 beds.
  • There is an early shift (73) and a late shift with one member of staff on each shift (per ward).
  • There are 6 supervisors in the West region, supported by 1 Assistant FM and an FM, and a variety of ancillary support staff, helpdesk etc.

Summary of Role


To provide professional management on a day-to-day operational basis with responsibility for the provision of a range of Facilities services which includes cleaning, catering, waste management, laundry/linen and pest control services.

Working to an agreedshift pattern, the post holder will have responsibility for ensuring the seamless delivery of Facilities services enabling the provision of safe quality patient care.


Duties

  • Support the Assistant Facilities Manager to oversee the operational delivery of the range of Facilities services ensuring consistent high quality provision at all times
  • Ensure service provision compliance with all statutory & legislative standards and local & national policy, protocol and procedure e.g. Catering related hygiene standards, National Cleaning standards, local Infection Control Guidance etc
  • Maintain a high profile presence acting as the primary Facilities interface on a day to day basis with Facilities colleagues, clinical staff, patients and visitors.
  • Daytoday management of staff on duty including performance and attendance issues.
  • Lead, develop and motivate staff to ensure best performance and effective delivery of services.
  • Ensure efficient and best use of all resources i.e. staff, nonpay equipment & materials
  • Respond to and address/resolve requests from Facilities and clinical colleagues in respect of services provision or general site related issues.
  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times in respect of services delivery and general site activity complying with Health & Safety, Fire, COSHH & Food Hygiene legislation and associated local policy and procedures.
  • Oversee service related external contractors on site ensuring that all security related protocols are adhered to
  • Ensure site security is maintained at all times in accordance with local policy and procedure
  • Manage and direct Facilities Assistants, making regular visits to their work areas.
  • Responsibility for the management of clinical and domestic waste, from the point of collection to storage, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and legislative requirements for its uplift, storage and disposal.
  • Ensure the allocation of schedules of work, checking of work schedules and making temporary adjustments as may be required to meet needs of the service on a daily basis takes place.
  • Authorisation and recording of annual leave or other leave for Facilities Assistants.
  • Develop effective relationships and communication with all stakeholders e.g. Facilities colleagues, clinical staff, Partnership colleagues
  • Ensure staff are managed in line with local policies.
  • Undertake a range of staff related absence management and disciplinary related tasks as per local policy.
  • Ensure staff comply with Health & Safety regulations and adhere to manual handling/risk assessment and fire safety training.
  • Make arrangements to ensure Facilities staff attend all statutory training as per requirement

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Vocational qualification level 4/5 or relevant experience
  • Experience of managing teams delivering frontline support services
  • Experience of auditing and monitoring of services
  • Experience of computer software (e.g. databases and spreadsheets)
  • Communication/Relationship skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to gain cooperation from NHS staff at various levels
  • Ability to plan and organise activities
  • Ability to deal with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to deal with complaints/problems with tact and understanding
  • Able to complete paperwork as instructed to Trust requirements and standards.
  • Able to follow work schedules with mínimal day to day supervision after initial training
  • Able to complete internal requisitions and submit to line manager
