Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent
Highways Planner to join our Severn Bridges
account in Bristol. This role will be based on site 3 days a week at
Severn Bridge Maintenance Unit, Bridge Access Road, Aust, BS35 4BD.
Working with National Highways, Amey maintains the Specialist Bridge Inspection and Maintenance contract (SBIM) for Avonmouth and Severn Bridges.
Amey maintains the three major structures each with unique characteristics and structural complexities; the M5 Avonmouth Bridge spanning 1,400m, the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge which comprises of three structures, the Avon Viaduct (2,100m), Cable Stay (948m) and Gwent Viaduct (2,077m) as well as the M48 Severn Bridge, a suspension bridge, that covers 1,600m of network and has the second highest tidal range in the world at 14.5 metres.
The Amey team is responsible for the cyclic maintenance, daily structure inspection checks and safety patrols as well as responding to any incidents that impact the structural integrity of the bridges.
The standard hours of work are
37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) on a
hybrid basis.

You will be responsible for:
- Receiving, planning, and programming of reactive work orders from National Highways Confirm System,
- Utilising Amey Works Management System carry out preworks coordination of works required,
- Manage and monitor progress of works from creation to completion and develop an appropriate action plan where works are falling behind programme,
- Liaise with the Operations Managers to ensure that directions are consistent with the achievement of quality, safety, programme, and financial objectives,
- Understand the Road Space Booking Requirements and converse with Chapter 8,
- Load Network Occupancy Event numbers into the programme numbers,
- Forecast and monitor the financial performance of the project's portfolio, providing detailed reports, comparing forecast performance to plan expectations and variations,
- Work with the Area Managers to ensure resources have been allocated to deliver the programme,
- Accept and validate works orders and allocate to the delivery team,
- Maintain and develop key client contacts,
- Arrange and chair meetings between Amey, the Client, and their contractors during Maintenance and scheme works.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in similar role within Highways Traffic Management sector and planning duties,
- Competency in Microsoft Office Experience,
- Communication skills that enable influencing at all levels of the business,
- Good team working skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a breadth of customers and stakeholders,
- Ability to work effectively in a team,
- Good organizational and planning skills able to work independently and prioritise workload within busy environment,
- Analytical thinking with excellent problemsolving skills,
- Commercial Awareness, Risk Management and Environmental Awareness with Personal Highways Safety
