About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time highly skilled and self-motivated line manager to join the Cambridgeshire Registration Service as Customer Appointments Team Leader, based in our Huntingdon office.

The Service provides core statutory services for the official recording of key events (birth and death registrations and marriage and Civil Partnership notices. It is proactive, ambitious and strives to remain at the forefront of service delivery nationwide.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused person who is able to use their own initiative (within the legal framework) and can motivate the team to constantly deliver a quality service to our customers.

What will you be doing?
In partnership with the other Customer Appointment Team Leader, you will be responsible for

  • The motivation, performance management and line management of Registration Officers.
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing for the delivery and registration of all appointments.
  • Proactively handle unplanned absence within the team, to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintaining, delivering and monitoring technical expertise with a thorough understanding of the legal requirements.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders including customers, coroners, service providers and others providing support wherever required.
  • Training, monitoring and developing Registration Officers to an agreed standard of excellence with regard to individual behaviours and high levels of customer service.
About you

The job entails managing staff across our five offices so the ability to travel around Cambridgeshire (sometimes at short notice) is essential.
