The Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) Residents Service is a small team within KCC which provides accommodation designated for GRT's across the County.

We currently have 7 residential sites providing approximately 130 pitches for families across Kent, and have a small team dedicated to providing an excellent service to our residents.

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, to join our dedicated team in our new role of Allocations and Project Support Officer.

This role is pivotal to ensuring that our limited number of available pitches are allocated to those most in need.

You will be responsible for meeting new residents on site and introducing them to the site, local area and facilities.

As such, there will be times that you are required to travel across a wide geographical area, in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day.

You should note that public transport is not a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have no or limited public transport.

You will also be responsible for coordinating and completing an annual census of residents on our sites, as well as providing appropriate project support to the Head of Service on development projects and initiatives.

You will need to demonstrate that you can establish and develop excellent working relationships with a number of stakeholders, as well as demonstrate excellent administration skills, and an awareness of project management approaches and methodology.

Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with a diverse range of people and challenging situations are critical in this role.

This role is a very rewarding and interesting role, where you will be part of a dedicated team that is adopting a new operating model and approach to service delivery and combines office-based working with on-site visits.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.

The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
