Crossroads Care NI is a voluntary organisation whose sole purpose is to provide as much respite care as possible to carers of whatever age and disability.

Crossroads have been providing a service to Carers in Northern Ireland since 1979. We provide services through our domiciliary, Young Carers and In Your Prime projects.

Our mission is to provide quality, highly trained dependable staff to our customers, whenever they need us.


OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Wellbeing Officer will support vulnerable adults and children in their own homes.


The post holder will provide respite care which may include sitting services, befriending and taking clients out, and encouraging socialisation.


Hourly Rate:

Monday to Sunday - £10.75 per hour

A mileage allowance of 10p per mile after 600 miles driven per calendar month


Essential Criteria:


  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Full valid driving licence, access to a car and willing to obtain business use.
  • Residing in the area advertised

About The Role

SOCIAL CARE TASKS (in line with the service users individual care plan)

  • Provide respite care to support the primary carers by maintaining social interaction including activities with the service user whilst they would otherwise be alone these duties may include, conversation, reading, board games, assisting with homework for younger service users or activities which interest the service user
  • Assist with the provision of a safe environment for those who need constant supervision and help. This must be in accordance with current health and safety legislation
  • Supervise the service user outside the home as stipulated in the care plan, this may include attending Crossroads Activity Room, social outings, or light physical activity
  • Undertake activities to support the service users physical and intellectual wellbeing
  • In line with the clients care plan, administer only the medication as per the service users blister pack and as prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner
  • In line with the clients care plan, prepare, and serve meals and washing up thereafter.
  • Encourage socialisation

ADMINISTRATION AND TRAINING

  • Participate in an induction programme and attend ongoing inservice training determined by individual need; or organisational requirements or statutory obligations.
  • Liaise regularly with the Scheme Manager(s) (and colleagues if necessary).
  • Notify the Scheme Manager(s) immediately of any change in availability to work.
  • Observe and report back promptly to the Scheme Manager(s) any alteration in the family circumstances affecting service provision.
  • Complete accurately, correctly and submit to the Scheme Manager(s) signed weekly time sheets and expense claims.
  • Provide flexible cover for colleagues in the event of holiday/sickness, or absence for personal reasons whilst working as part of a local team of Wellbeing Officers.
  • Attend regular team meetings as convened by the Operations Team (this is a contractual obligation).
  • Assist with completion of incident / accident forms accurately and submit promptly to the Scheme Manager(s).
  • Place typed up Care Plans in Service User's homes.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Comply with Registration Requirements of N.I.S.C.C.
  • Comply with requirements of Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority

Relevant information about the families who receive Crossroads care will be given to or subsequently obtained by the Wellbeing Officer and Monitoring Officers.

It is vital that this information is kept confidential and unauthorised disclosure of personal service user information is considered to be gross misconduct; which may result in disciplinary action.


You should note that the various duties; responsibilities and associated activities as stipulated in this job description constitute part of a Wellbeing Officer's terms and conditions of employment.
