My name is Annabelle Nolan, Senior HR Business Partner and Employee Relations Manager, I am looking for a Talent Acquisition Partner to join our great HR team to focus on our offshore recruitment.

You will be located in our Teesside office where our main UK activities are coordinated and will be part of the wider European HR Team and work closely with the Operations Teams ensuring all recruitment needs, shore and offshore, are met.

Svitzer has provided safety and support at sea since 1833.

Over the past years the towage labour market has become very competitive, we face many challenges such as skills shortages and changes to legislation which can impact on our ability to recruit.

This newly created role will expand and take charge of our recruitment function in order to combat these challenges and those that lay ahead.

The role mostly will be based in Middlesbrough, but flexibility in terms of a hybrid working can be discussed at interview stages.

There will also be heavy requirement for travel across the UK as well as internationally on occasion.


Core Role Responsibilities

  • Determining current staffing needs and producing forecasts
  • Developing talent acquisition strategies and hiring plans
  • Leading employment branding initiatives
  • Perform sourcing to fill open positions and anticipate future needs.
  • Plan and conduct recruitment and selection processes (interviews, screening calls etc.)
  • Working closely with the crewing department to ensure offshore recruitment needs are understood and met.
  • Design and implement retention initiatives.
  • Assist in employee retention and development.
  • Manage a team of one Recruitment Officer
  • Organise and/or attend career fairs, assessment centres or other events.
  • Use metrics to create reports and identify areas of improvement.

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as talent acquisition partner or fast paced recruitment role
  • Experience in fullcycle recruiting, sourcing and employment branding
  • Understanding of all selection methods and techniques
  • Understanding/knowledge of offshore workforces and recruitment beneficial
  • Proficient in the use of social media and job boards
  • Willingness to understand the duties and competencies of different roles
  • Excellent communicator
  • Wellorganised
  • A leader and strategic thinker
  • Degree educated or equivalent/relevant qualification.
