As an Underwriting Assistant you will be responsible for supporting and contributing effectively towards the maintenance, servicing, retention and development of the existing Underwriting portfolio, whilst developing the necessary skillset to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders.


The role includes pre and post bind processes within the UK & Lloyds business unit, providing accurate & efficient processing of accounts, at quality service levels, ensuring the end-to-end process is fully compliant in accordance with AXA XL guidelines.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Assisting the Underwriters in recording risk details on source systems; building broker relationships as required; developing knowledge of the class of business and the accounts written; retrieving data for Underwriters as requested.
  • Liaise with Underwriting staff to ensure correct interpretation of data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain Underwriting documentation/files; keeping all documentation in order.
  • Liaise with the Credit Control team answering queries, tracking and monitoring premium using core Underwriting systems.
  • Work with Underwriting support functions to respond to regular control and exception reports, including data entry and ensure adherence to common standards across the business.
  • Work with underwriting team to develop requirements for statistical and insightful reports for Underwriting function.
  • Monitor renewal lists and action renewals as required.
  • Work closely with shared services to ensure accurate and timely service to our Underwriters and Clients.
  • Other adhoc duties and projects.

  • Previous office experience with administrative skills.
  • Computer literate experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams would be advantageous.
  • System data entry experience and processes.
  • Rational approach to complex data.
  • Sound mathematical skills with the ability to analyse complex data and statistics.
  • Creative thinker, curious and ready to challenge the status quo.
  • An appetite for achievement and building a career within the insurance market.
  • Effective and professional communicator.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Accurate and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent proactive organisation skills and ability to plan and prioritise work.
