PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Due to the continued international success and growth of the Firm, we have a unique opportunity for a Senior Lawyer to join our Office of the General Counsel (OGC) to support the Firm's offices in the EMEA region.

Working closely with the Firm's General Counsel (GC) and the Deputy General Counsel (DGC), you will play a key role in leading development of the relationship between the OGC team and the people working in the Firm's offices outside of the UK.

Acting as liaison between the Firm's offices in the EMEA region and the specialist teams within OGC in the course of day-to-day work for clients and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements.

There will also be involvement in future strategic expansion of the Firm.


THE TEAM
The OGC team comprises over 35 lawyers and other team members.

It acts as the internal legal function of the Firm, overseeing regulatory compliance in the jurisdictions in which the Firm operates and supporting the Firm in managing legal risk in the work it undertakes.

OGC has several sub-teams that handle claims and complaints, oversee negotiation of the Firm's professional indemnity and other insurances, manage conflicts, investigate and assess financial crime and sanctions risk in potential client relationships and counterparties.

It also ensures compliance with data protection regulations and deals with data protection issues, negotiates key supplier contracts for the Firm and considers the terms that govern key client relationships.

The team, along with the rest of the Firm, has embedded a flexible and agile culture.

What this ROLE INVOLVES

Understanding the Firm's strategy and translating that into delivery by connecting with a wide range of colleagues in the Firm, with specific focus on colleagues working in the EMEA region.

Being at the forefront of integrating colleagues in the EMEA region with the wider Firm, as well as playing a key role in the thought leadership in the OGC team regarding better supporting the Firm's offices.

Contributing information and analysis on upcoming issues, legislation, regulatory change, market intelligence and best practice in the Firm's EMEA locations and shaping strategies to anticipate such change.

Supporting and leading training in respect of risk and compliance issues to Partners and fee earners across the Firm, with particular focus on those located in the EMEA region.
