- _We are currently looking_ _for an experienced_ _Specialist_ _to_ _play_ a _key_ _role_ _working_ _within_ _the_ _fire_ _and_ _safety_ _team,_ _carrying_ _out_ _complex_ _examinations_ _of_ _Lifesaving products,_ giving _pragmatic_ _advice to colleagues and clients_ and _also_ to _mentor_ less _experienced_ _colleagues._

_The role_
- _Type_ _Approval_ of _Lifesaving_ _products_ _to various_ statutory _codes,_ _international_ _standards,_ _and_ _rules_ _in_ a _consistent_ _and timely_ _manner._
- _Assistance_ _and_ _coordination_ of new _rules_ _and_ _regulations_ _relating_ _to various LSA equipment. _
- _Representation_ of LR _and_ IACS _at various_ _technical committee meetings_ _and forums_ _which could_ _include IMO MSC and SSE _sub-committees._
- _Conducting_ _occasional_ site _visits at _various_ shipyards, client sites, testing laboratories, or production_ _facilities as required to successfully_ _complete_ _projects._
- _Contributing_ _expert knowledge and experience of LSA equipment and regulatory framework_ to _risk-based project teams_ _to ensure project_ _outcomes are_ _met._
- _Assisting_ the _business_ in _the_ bid _and_ _win_ _process_ _for_ _new_ _projects_ _by_ _accurately_ _estimating time_ _requirements_ for a _range_ of _projects._
- _Management and oversight of project_ _schedules, financial tracking,_ _contract_ _risk_ _management_ _procedures_ _and_ _issues_ _plus_ _associated_ _project_ _documentation_ _and_ _supporting_ _compliance with all legal,_ statutory and _regulatory_ _requirements._
- _Attendance at and _preparation_ of _reports_ _as_ _required_ _for_ _audits_ _that_ _are_ _conducted_ _by_ _external_ _bodies._
- _Providing_ _visible,_ _pro-active HS&E leadership, ensuring that _all_ LR Corporate and local_ _HS&E policies_ and _processes_ are _followed,_ _including_ _any_ _necessary_ _client-specific_ _requirements,_ _in_ _particular,_ _ensuring_ _that stated requirements_ _for incident reporting, task_ _risk_ _assessment_ _and_ _safe_ _methods_ _of_ _work_ _are_ _followed._
- _Actively_ _seeking_ to ensure _client satisfaction and to generate_ _new_ _opportunities _with_ _our_ _clients._


_What you bring_
- _7-10 years' experience working in a relevant role covering design, testing and or certification of life saving appliances _
- _Demonstrable_ _experience_ of the IMO Life Saving Appliances Code _requirements_ and _an in -depth knowledge of LSA products including certification and testing requirements._
- _In_ _depth_ _knowledge_ _of_ _Maritime _Safety _Legislation_ for a _variety_ of _ship types. _
- _Broad_ _knowledge_ _of_ _SOLAS,_ _other_ _international regulations (e. g. LSA Code, ISO Standards,_ _UL _Standards etc,_)._
- _Basic project_ _management techniques_ are _desirable._
- _A_ degree or equivalent from _a_ tertiary organisation recognised_ _by_ Lloyd's _Register_ within the _relevant_ _field of engineering or physical science_ _(minimum of two years_ _programme)._
- _Membership_ _of_ _an_ _appropriate professional_ institution._
- _Working towards_ _achieving_ _Chartered_ _or_ _Incorporated Engineer_ _status._
- _Exceptional_ _communication_ _skills,_ _including_ _technical_ _report_ _writing,_ _having_ _the_ _ability_ _to_ _adapt_ _and_ _work_ _to tight deadlines _._
- _Proficiency_ _in the_ _English_ _Language_ _commensurate_ _with_ _the_ _work._
- _Good _general_ _appreciation_ _Marine_ & Offshore _industry_ _standards_ _and practices._
- _Knowledge of_ _Classification _/_ Certification _/_ Verification is desirable._
