Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Production Operative on behalf of one of our clients.


To work as part of the packaging team, operating machinery and equipment used to package products to the standards of safety, quality and hygiene specified.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To only work in accordance with the instructions, information and training you have been provided.
  • To use equipment provided in the interest of health and safety in accordance with all training and instructions given.
  • Refrain from intentionally misusing or recklessly interfering with anything that has been provided for health and safety reasons.
  • Report to a supervisor or member of the health and safety team, any hazardous defect in plant or equipment, or any shortcomings in the existing safety arrangements.
  • Report all incidents, hazards or near misses to the Team Leader / Line Manager.
  • Cooperate fully in investigations of any incidents, hazards, near misses or dangerous occurrences.
  • Ensure all equipment provided for personal safety is used as required, kept in a condition fit of use, stored correctly and report any defects to the Team Leader requesting replacements when necessary.
  • Demonstrate company culture of an effective health and safety management system by conforming to the safety management requirements.
  • Operate and clean machinery and equipment to the standards required as instructed in the training and instructions provided.
  • To carry out all inspections & checks as specified and complete fully and accurately all required records & documentation. (E.g., daily cleaning records and machine quality check sheets).
  • To ensure all areas are cleared of broken glass where applicable.
  • To work an effective method within a team to maintain high standards of quality of the finished product.
  • To work as a committed team member to ensure high efficiencies are maintained ensuring continuity of supply of product to our customers.
  • To communicate effectively and constructively across departments to maintain good cross departmental relationships.
  • To carry out line change overs and make adjustments on setup where necessary to prevent reduced downtime due to change overs.
  • To carry out basic planned preventative maintenance on production lines.
  • To make sure that the correct quantity of materials are in place for the whole production run at the beginning of the shift e.g. dry goods.
  • To complete line clearances after every production run and ensure this is recorded on the correct paperwork.
  • To use the stacker truck if required and if trained.
  • The employee will comply with company policies and procedures outlined in their terms and conditions and also those stated in the company handbook. This includes site hygiene, environmental and safety rules.
  • To undertake training as and when required in order to enhance skills within the position.
  • To perform any other duties within their capability.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Level 2 in Food Hygiene.
  • GCSE's or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Able to work under own initiative as well as working within a team.

Desirable:


  • Basic HACCP qualification.
  • Previous packaging/production experience.
