Employability & Life Skills Tutor

Location:
Peterborough

Working Hours: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm OR 9.00 am to 5.30 pm, 1 hour lunch, Monday to Friday

37.5 hours per week. Some flexibility on these hours may be required.


Contract Type Options:
Perm/Term-time


Salary Band:
Unqualified 23k-26k Qualified 27k-30k Pro rata


What are we looking for?


TCHC is looking for passionate and creative tutor to develop our SEND learners in the areas of Employability & Life Skills.


These two areas form part of their 16-19 study programme that enables them to gain the skills, experience, and qualifications to progress.


As a Employability & Life Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for planning, teaching and organising events and trips that enable learners to develop their confidence and skills for life and work.

You will plan the curriculum with your colleagues ensuring the qualifications and enrichment activities are of quality enabling learners to be successful.


This role would require face to face delivery and the organising of events and trips to ensure learners gain insight and new experienced that enable them to learn and increase their skills.


Qualifications:


  • Qualified to DTLLS/Cert Ed/ PGCE (or equivalent), desirable
  • Qualified to PTLLS/ CTLLS (or equivalent), essential
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and math's at grade C or above, essential

Skills syllabus This will include:


  • Functional Skills English Entry Level 1 to Level
  • Functional Skills Math's Entry Level 1 to Level 2


Working with individuals who may present challenges, who have struggled in education and have learning needs that require creativity and imagination to ensure they can progress and achieve.


Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Lesson Planning

  • Create effective schemes of works that clearly supports the learning process of individuals
  • Prepare and develop innovative lesson plans, designing and delivering group activities
  • Diagnose learner's numeracy needs and requirements by using various diagnostic testing and mock tests

Teaching

  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons at levels 1 & 2 for employability programmes.
  • Plan and develop SMART appropriate learning plans for individual learners.
  • Create engaging schemes of work that demonstrate progression.
  • Create engaging lessons that are full of learning and development
  • Monitor and assess the achievement of students, and to record and report the development, progress, and attainment of students in accordance with TCHC's assessment policies and in line with the principles of assessment for Learning.
  • Make use of current technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Be a tutor to an assigned group of students and to carry out the associated academic and pastoral responsibilities as required.
  • Implement TCHC's inclusion and equal opportunity policies.
  • Ensure that learning support assistants and visiting speakers are used effectively in the learning environment.
  • Organise and implement trips and events for learning

Monitoring and Continual Improvement

  • Follow the education inspection framework.
  • Undertake regular CPD and record it using company documents.
  • Undertake qualifications where suitable as part of your own learning and development.
  • Take proactive approaches to ensure Safeguarding and Prevent is embedded into the delivery and ensure issues are raised accordingly, in line with TCHC's Safeguarding Policy using the appropriate recording and reporting tools.
