The Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for Postgraduate Research Support Officer to support our Post-Graduate Research student population and their academic supervisors.


The Opportunity:


The Postgraduate Support Officer will provide support to the Usher Institute's Postgraduate Research (PGR) student population and their academic supervisors.

The post holder's responsibilities will primarily focus on providing technical advice and administrative support to ensure that students are recruited and progress through their studies in accordance with University policies and procedures.

The post holder will also act as a key point of contact in the Institute for PGR students, their supervisors and PGR programme leads.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail whilst dealing with multiple workstreams
  • Competent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to describe services and complex issues clearly both in writing and verbally with tact.
  • Proven skills and experience in planning, prioritising and undertaking of work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively with people across a broad range of levels and sectors and to participate as a member of a team
  • Ability to be flexible and open to learning and adapting to changes in external and internal environments and refocussing tasks
