Over the last few years, Black Sun has invested heavily into our talent agenda, including building a highly functional HR team and we are now recruiting for a driven and dynamic Head of HR with a strong generalist background to take our talent activities to the next level.

Reporting into the Group CEO, our Head of HR will work closely with him to set our people strategy and ensure that all HR activities support the strategic direction of the business and drive towards attracting, developing and retaining top talent.


Our new Head of HR will need to be comfortable with a hands-on role whilst developing and, through the HR team, driving to execution the full spectrum of 'talent activities'.

They will also need to be comfortable with and capable of challenging the organisation and coming up with new ideas along the way.


We plan for this role, in 2024, to become
Group Head of HR and build a functional Group HR team for the Positive Change Group, of which Black Sun Ltd is the founding agency.

The Group Head of HR will take our HR activities from a one-company HR offering to a Group offering.

Again, reporting into the Group CEO, our Group Head of HR will set our people strategy and ensure that all HR activities support the strategic direction of the Group.


We are looking for a natural and charismatic leader, who is excited about managing, developing and mentoring the team and developing the HR function across Black Sun Ltd and the Group.


We will expect you to use your creative style and innovative approach to do things differently whilst keeping our culture and values alive.

It is essential that you have a strong empathy with our corporate purpose and understand and buy into our proposition, whilst also thoroughly understanding the mechanics of our business model.

Key Responsibilities

Planning


Working with the HR team to develop annual Black Sun and Group Talent Plans to deliver on our talent acquisition, retention and development goals.

Inspire and lead your team to deliver on agreed actions from the HR plan, globally and across all operating companies

Feedback to the Board on your team's progress and performance against the plan, agreed KPIs and performance metrics.

Working with leadership on the proposition and strategy for the Positive Change Group HR team.

Providing support and guidance to all operating businesses within the Positive Change Group as defined by your strategy.


Talent Attraction


Work closely with the Talent Acquisition Manager to ensure we are able to attract and hire the very best talent for Black Sun and the Positive Change Group, who share our values and buy into our goals, globally.

Bring our EVP to life internally and externally effectively communicating it through all channels
- including the likes of Glassdoor, social media and our own career site


On-boarding
Oversee and constantly assess the (pre) on-boarding process for new joiners.

Oversee the HR team in making offers, contract negotiations, and employment contracts, through to the implementation of our on-boarding and induction programmes.


Manage the end of the probation review process with Managers/Senior Management, ensuring feedback loops are in place to ensure new joiners are optimised for success.

Where required, take the lead on managing probation extensions, liaising with agencies on rebate extensions, or terminating employment


Performance Management
Plan and develop all talent development, training and career development activities across the business, through the support of an L&D hire (budgeted for 2024)


Lead the annual performance review process, having responsibility for ensuring all employee reviews are completed in a timely manner and employee goals are relevant.

Work with the Senior Management team to develop succession plans for key/top employees.


Employee Engagement and Communication
Have overall responsibility for the ongoing development of, and engagement with
"Halo" (The Positive Change Group's internal communications hub), ensuring fresh content and full company engagement.

Implement The Positive Change Group's annual communications and social programmes for the business.

Manage and evolve the range of initiatives to receive ongoing feedback from the business including our annual Employee Engagement Survey, employee catch-ups, and exit interviews, feeding all insights back into the business and taking remedial action on identified concerns or problems


Work with the CEO and Senior Management team to implement the annual pay and promotion reviews for all employees, benchmarking salaries and benefits where required.


Legal and Compliance


Be the company's 'guardian' ensuring that internal processes are fit for purpose and all activities and initiatives within the business are in line with legal and best practices.
