Being a Women's Specialist Outreach worker is varied and rewarding work.

It also gives invaluable insight into health and social care systems for anyone looking to go into public health and policy work.

The Role

We are looking for self-motivated, dynamic, driven individuals and who are committed to providing assertive outreach to women in the community, to engage or re-engage them onto wellbeing services and drug and alcohol treatment.

You will work independently, but also part of a supportive team:

  • Conduct street outreach to engage/reengage homeless individuals misusing substances.
  • Deliver streetbased, gender trauma informed interventions.
  • Engage and build relationships with women who are rough sleepers/street active.
  • Streetbased needs assessments/harm reduction advice including Naloxone distribution.
  • Develop robust pathways between existing homeless and outreach service/housing services.
  • Support access/reengagement with local treatment provider.
  • Support Opiate users with rapid prescribing access with use of virtual prescribing clinics.
  • Manage a case load of those with complex needs including substance misuse. Working with partner agencies to support them to become stable and ready to engage with local treatment providers.
  • Work in collaboration with housing teams, local authority, and other treatment agencies to minimise the prevalence of street drinking and antisocial behaviour by supporting people into treatment.
  • To deliver drug and alcohol training to partner services.
  • Flexible working patterns.

The main purpose of the role is to provide excellent quality/support with strong communication skills as you will be providing care to women who use our services who may be mentally unwell, have experienced trauma and who have struggled to engage with mainstream services.

Applicants will be able to work flexible working pattens with partner agencies, to give the best possible care.

Direct experience in substance misuse is not mandatory, although the applicant must be able to learn on the job and be willing to undertake training.
