Youth Justice Service Operations Manager | £27.46 P/H | Barnsley


We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable individual who is passionate about providing excellent youth support and the delivery of clean safe care.


This is a
contractposition, with the potential of becoming a permanent member of staff, making this a particularly exciting opportunity for applicants.


Please note, we require someone with at least 1-2 years experience in a similar role previously.

Barnsley Youth Justice Service is seeking a highly performing operational manager to support innovative and reflective approaches to:

  • Reducing reoffending
  • Diverting children from the criminal justice system
  • Protecting the public
  • Making Barnsley a safe place to live


You will be a part of a small team that seeks excellence in practice from each other as we share a collective belief that change can be achieved if professionals work with children and their families, victims and the wider community for shared outcomes.


You will have a considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system and of how to safeguard others from harm; and this will be underpinned by an understanding of the complex range of factors that lead a child to become involved in the criminal justicesystem.

You will be able to evidence the ability to work at a consistently high standard in order to achieve required outcomes and drive the wider performance of others, and you will have had direct experience of staff supervision and of supporting the professionaldevelopment of others.

This position provides the opportunity to gain experience and competency in a range of operational and strategic tasks.

You will directly line manage a team of staff and have direct ownership of key tasks that sit as part of the continued service improvementstrategy.


You will further have the opportunity of being a key contributor to the service preparation for inspection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP).
