Description

Graduate Innovation Analyst

At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself on the largest infrastructure project in Europe.

After completion of the 2-year graduate programme graduates will be transferred into a role within the same discipline, but not necessarily the same business area.

Your placement will primarily be within the innovation team although by definition this will require collaboration with teams across the programme, including the Environment, Phase 1 Engineering and the High Speed Rail Systems teams.

You would also have exposure to the internal and external relationships that are integral to the innovation portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the delivery of the UK's most impactful infrastructure innovation programme.

The Innovation Team acts as the focal point for innovation within HS2 and is based in Birmingham, however travel to other HS2 offices/sites may be required.

The team works across the company and supply chain to deliver HS2's overall innovation strategy, delivering new technologies and techniques to be implemented in the programme.

The role of Graduate Innovation Analyst will be to support the core innovation team to influence, steer and deliver innovation projects across HS2, learning our process from idea sourcing to concept delivery.

During their time with the team we aim to provide the skills and capability for the Innovation Analyst to source, develop and deliver their own Innovation proof of concept project and ultimately become part of the team in the long term.

The innovation team is a small central team that sits within the CFO Directorate but works across the HS2 programme and is therefore able to impact and influence decisions that will deliver programme-wide cost, carbon, safety and legacy benefits.

HS2 Innovation has a large and broad portfolio of active and delivered innovation projects which have successfully reduced the cost and carbon impact to date of HS2, and works to enable the delivery of cutting-edge technology and processes through its collaborative innovation ecosystem comprising its supply chain, disruptive start-ups, academic institutions such as UKCRIC and UKKRIN, innovation catapults, government bodies and industry organisations.

We use innovative tools and funding models to deliver substantive change to HS2 with a process that actively de-risks new technology and processes and gives the confidence for them to be adopted at scale.
