HSBC Alternative Investments Ltd (HAIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Global Asset Management (AMG) that specializes in alternative investment products.

HAIL currently provides top-tier indirect alternative solutions in Hedge Funds and Private Markets, as well as direct alternative solutions in Private Debt, Infrastructure Debt, and real asset opportunities.


This Senior Associate will support the activities of the infrastructure debt investments team in originating and analyzing investment opportunities, seeking internal approvals, managing and monitoring portfolios of investments, reporting, handling client enquiries, capital-raising and liaising with other internal functions.

In this role you will:

  • Review, Research, analyse and evaluate a variety of infrastructure debt investment opportunities
  • Build complex dynamic financial models to analyse investment opportunities (including testing assumptions and sensitivities). Perform due diligence on opportunities including past and projected financial performance, quality of management teams, investment merits and risks, expected returns, regulatory environment, industry dynamics and other relevant factors.
  • Review 3rd party due diligence reports (legal, accounting, industry strategic reviews, environmental, etc.) Perform valuation analysis, including precedent transactions and comparable company analysis.
  • Review past performance, strategy, outlook, regulatory and industry issues, and other relevant topics as required. Assist with the overall execution of investments.
  • Assist in meeting investor capital deployment and return target objectives, delivering the expected risk profile, responding to changing market conditions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable relevant experience in Infrastructure Investments, coming form an Asset Management, advisory or Investment business/manager background. Significant hands-on experience within this field is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to assess key risks in transactions; ability to review due diligence reports and financial accounts indepth. Strong excel skills are a must.
  • Welldeveloped organizational skills, good time management and task planning abilities. Strong communicator with the capability to write clearly, accurately, and concisely.
  • Good interpersonal skills are necessary. The role holder should be able to support other team members effectively and act persuasively with others. The ability to collaborate with various teams is a must.
  • Flexibility and independence are crucial. The role holder should be able to work on a wide variety of activities and be proactive.
This role is based in London.
