Our busy Haematology Department is looking for a new member to join our friendly team at Royal Preston Hospital.

Your ability to multi-task and focus on detail, as well as working as part of a diverse team, will be skills that will enable you to thrive as one of our Medical Laboratory Assistants.

You'll have effective communication skills which will be key in liaising with a wide variety of individuals both inside the department and outside, using a variety of different systems for example speaking to a Paediatrician who is asking for blood for a baby or a GP about a blood test.

We are a busy, modern, and well equipped UKAS accredited Laboratory, which provides specialist services to Plastics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Renal, Trauma, Orthopaedic and Cancer Care in addition to the routine services.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Receipt, sorting and loading of biological samples for the Pathology Directorate;
Perform tests under supervision of senior staff
Ordering and maintaining stocks of blood products;
Ensuring that urgent work is fast tracked appropriately through the department
Controlling and maintaining a variety of equipment

Whilst the role is primarily based at Preston, you may be required to work at our Emergency Service Laboratory at Chorley Hospital to cover absence which we know you will understand.
