Strainstall UK is now trading as BES Group Asset Reliability. In our new home as part of BES Group, we remain a leading provider of specialist testing services and structural monitoring to the construction, rail, energy, marine, highways and maintenance sectors.

Due to continued business growth, we are delighted to be recruiting for a Buyer to join the team on our own site in Cowes, Isle of Wight, you will work closely with our Engineers to decide what electrical products are required and then go out to order and buy these.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-moving business which has benefitted from recent investment and has strong growth plans.

What will I be doing?

As a Buyer you will be working with our engineers to identify and assign the electrical products and components needed to ensure they are able to meet every customer need, this will include a variety of products such as strain gauges and systems, container weighing systems and electronic systems.

Some of your other responsibilities will include:

Locating, evaluating and selecting suppliers and potential suppliers to gain the best quality, cost and delivery of purchased material consistent with required standards
Handling the day to day materials planning and placement of purchase orders
Supporting cost reduction strategies, purchase agreements, new source identification and selection
Leading supplier relationships and being the main point of contact
Reviewing and negotiating supplier contracts
Ensuring that the highest level of customer service is provided at all times

What experience do I need?
Our team consists of the best people, we should know, we trained them. We want our new recruits to have the same attitude, aptitude and appetite for what we do.

Understands and communicates component specifications to suppliers
Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data and establish facts
Ability to take initiative and work independently
CIPS qualification would be of preference or be willing to complete this
Ideally, experience in a technical buying environment
Knowledge of load monitoring equipment or a background in electrical engineering would be an advantage
Naturally, you will have excellent attention to detail as you will be working with supplier contracts and orders
Do what you say you will do; Talk to anyone in our team from engineers to our back office team and we're always open and honest
