Job summary:


This post is in UK Defence and Security Exports (UKDSE) which provides support and guidance to UK based defence and security companies with their export market objectives.

The UKDSE SME Engagement team is situated in the Operations Directorate.

The team's work is a key part of DBT's front-line delivery of support to SMEs in the UK defence & security sector to help them grow their export potential.


Job description:


The role, with stretching targets, will include:

  • Management, coordination and delivery of the UKDSE Export Faculty to include:
  • Learning Hub programme of online webinars and modules
  • Recruitment of cohorts for outward Trade Missions
  • Delivery of modules to support cohorts
  • Delivery of Bespoke 'Meet the Buyer' and 'Meet the Prime' events
  • Digital Platform
  • Management of the UKDSE SME UK Supplier Capability Database to include GDPR compliance
  • Management of the delivery of the UKDSE SME Engagement Strategy
  • Sign posting SMEs for appropriate support
  • Circulation of information such as events, webinars etc
  • Management of UKDSE attendance at UK events
  • Travel in the UK when required to attend meetings and events
  • SME Questionnaire
  • Management of the delivery of UKDSE regular engagement with ITAs and DAs
  • Management of regular UKDSE SME Newsletters including content and collateral
  • Working in collaboration with our Export Support Team
  • Responsibility of all communication to SMEs is GDPR compliant
  • All interactions with companies should be input into DBT CRM System
  • Maybe required to pick up additional duties depending on business needs

Hybrid working
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.


Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.


Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.

If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

Essential Criteria

  • Stakeholder communication and management
  • Experience of working with SMEs
  • Experience of Leading and Managing a small team to deliver on all objectives
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask to deliver results

Desirable Criteria

  • Proven capacity to work across Government
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask to deliver results
  • Experience of working in the either the Defence, Security, Cyber Security or Maritime Sectors
  • Knowledge of UK Supply Chains
