Description

We are looking for people with excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and energy for these exciting new posts created to support the BCUHB Smoke-Free Policy and Welsh Government Legislation.

You will work as part of a team of Smoke-Free Environment Officers; and you will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd.


You will need to be resilient and confident in approaching people smoking on the hospital sites and able to speak to them in an empathetic and non-confrontational manner.

You will ensure that patients, visitors and staff are made aware of and understand the reasons for the Health Board's Smoke-Free Policy and that it is illegal to smoke on hospital grounds.


As part of this work, you will provide very brief smoking cessation advice and information resources to staff, members of the public and patients where appropriate.

There will be a requirement to signpost people who require further information and support to the NHS stop smoking services (Help Me Quit), You will also be required to electronically record all discussions and actions, and to regularly report this information.


Training to cover all aspects of the role will be given as part of the induction process, and ongoing support will be provided.

This post is fixed term for 20 months until 31st March 2025 due to funding.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
