About the Employer
I am the employer and mother to my son. He lives at home with his father, 2 siblings and myself. He has a diagnosis of Autism, severe learning difficulties and functions at a much younger age.

He has slight difficulties with his speech which will require someone with patience when communicating but is generally able to communicate effectively with others.

My son has a great sense of humour and enjoys playing practical jokes. He enjoys the company of others and adult attention. He requires close supervision at all times, as he is extremely vulnerable.


We are seeking a PA to provide a befriending role, and someone to support and encourage social outings, engaging him in activities within the local community.

He is enjoys the outdoors, forestry school and exploring. camping and being physically active. He enjoys being pampered and going to the sauna and using the jacuzzi at our local fitness centre.

He is fearful of dogs and can become quite nervous and and anxious around them, so the PA would need to be mindful when out and about with him.

We are seeking a PA to provide support on a Saturday and Sunday during term time and the hours can be delivered flexibly during school holidays.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.


Transport Requirement:

Car driver preferred but not essential.


Required Skills:


  • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
  • To be able to work on own initiative.
  • Be patient, supportive and caring.
  • Have good listening skills and be able to provide nonjudgemental emotional support.
  • Be empathetic.
  • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
  • Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.
  • Be selfmotivated with a willingness to get involved.
  • Have a lively personality.

When you are Required:


Hours per week: 14 hrs per week (2 x 7 hrs sessions term time & hours to be used flexibly in school holidays

  • Saturday, 11am 6pm Term time
  • Sunday, 11am6 pm Term time

Dates and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent


Pay:
£12.45 per hour

Expected hours: 14 per week
