Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and dedicated Digital Lead Midwife.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic specialist midwife to contribute to influencing the future of maternity care through the effective use of digital solutions.


You will be responsible for oversight of the maternity electronic patient record systems, the collection and analysis of data from the Maternity Information System (MIS), undertaking data quality audits, reporting to NHS England and engaging with clinical staff and suppliers in order to ensure that the maternity services IT requirements are addressed.


In addition, you will monitor the quality of data within the maternity electronic patient records and will undertake a pivotal role in ensuring that clinical governance and risk management are effectively implemented within the service within the digital arena.

The successful applicant will be able to work well both autonomously and as part of a team.

They will be driven by achievements and the desire to provide the highest standard of care to the families in our service.


It will be the post holder's responsibility to ensure that clinical practice meets professional standards through the support of digital technologies.

They will be required to provide effective and visible leadership in digital projects, with the requisite knowledge and expertise in the current maternity digital systems.

In addition to training and support of clinical staff.

They will be required to provide evidence of compliance with local and national data standards and ensure regular reporting to NHS England via the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) and appropriately present and disseminate this information.

They will contribute towards the monitoring of key performance indicators (KPI's) using the local maternity dashboard.

The post holder will work closely with the senior management team, specialist midwives, IT and information departments to ensure new systems and upgrades are implemented smoothly, whilst maintaining close links with clinical staff and maintaining their own clinical credibility.

They will work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team whilst liaising effectively with colleagues from other agencies and organisations in order to support learning and best practice, both locally and nationally.

Our service includes a Day Assessment department and an 18
bedded antenatal and postnatal ward with co located transitional care bay. We have 8 birth rooms including a pool and a bereavement suite.
