Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Youth Support Worker to join our team.

As a Part-Time Youth Support Worker in our College SEN (Special Educational Needs) program, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to students with diverse learning needs.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals and contribute to their personal and educational development.

This position is starting in September and requires availability from Tuesday to Friday (2 days minimum). The college is very flexible but 3-4 days a week are preferred.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide oneonone support to students with special educational needs within the college setting, assisting them in achieving their educational goals.
  • Collaborate with the college staff and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials, as necessary, to accommodate their learning styles and abilities.
  • Assist students in developing social and life skills, promoting their independence and selfadvocacy.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students, encouraging their participation and engagement in college activities.

  • A genuine passion for working with young people with SEN and complex needs, and supporting their personal and educational development.
  • Knowledge of different learning needs and strategies to accommodate them, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt approaches and techniques to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in special education, youth work, or related fields are desirable but not mandatory.
